I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday! I last spoke about holiday wear and exampled some looks.
This year I went with a nude palette with some contrasting fabrics. I'm all about detail. When you have a piece that makes a statement on its own, everything else can be simple and clean looking. Let your statement pieces take center stage!
I wanted to wear something that was fun and flirty but still modest and classy. The meshed long sleeves in this dress gave me just that! An open neck is so beautiful and the nude colored top gave me that look I was going for! Lace is definitely a favorite of mine. If done nicely, it can be very sexy and still modest and classy. I fell in love with this dress as soon as I tried it on. I debated between nude and black heels. I really wanted to keep the look soft, so I went with the nude heels to keep the attention on the dress instead of my shoes.
There were two looks within my family that really stood out to me. I think these two definitely won "best dressed" this year in my book. Allow me to show them off.
This look on my little cousin (20 years old) is flawless. She too stuck with a soft nude palette. One thing I love about this look is that it's age appropriate. High waisted bottoms and crop tops are very in right now. She played around with the 80's style while still keeping it modest. The elastic in the skirt still shows off her petite frame without giving everything away. Similar to my dress, she has contrasting fabrics. Both items are simple, but the change in fabric from the top to the skirt make the whole outfit stand out. Instead of high stilettos or platform heels, she wore wedges keeping the look young and playful. I think that was a perfect choice for this look!
My second best dressed goes to my mom (43 years old). Moms want to look good too! The key to dressing as a mom (or any older woman) is to dress age appropriate. Be beautiful not a "MILF." I loved what my mom chose to wear! Like my mom, a lot of women want to be dressed but don't necessarily have the desire to do a lot to get there. Understandable. A romper is PERFECT! It's easy, simple, and stands out! The tighter middle still allowed my moms curves to be displayed and the flow of the rest made sure people knew that she didn't have to show it all off. The V-cut was just the right length to give an open neck without being too revealing. Throw on some heels and you're good to go! I'm so proud of my mom's sense of style and beauty!
I hope you enjoyed getting dressed for the holidays this year!
